Information, tips, advice and guidance. Meditation relaxes the body and the mind, and brings inner harmony into one's mind and world. It is a state of concentrated attention, with the attention turned inwards, away from the external world. In it higher forms, the aim of meditation is to free the mind from the compulsive subconscious habit of incessant and restless thinking, and to make one aware of one's inner real essence. This leads to inner peace and freedom, and to spiritual awakening. Meditation is practiced in both the East and the West. You don't need to be a monk or a hermit, or live in seclusion or in an ashram in order to practice it. You can live your day-to-day life, have a job, a husband or wife and kids, and still practice meditation. This is an inner practice, and does not require that you follow any particular religion, wear special clothes or lead a certain lifestyle. Turn thy gaze inward, wherein resides the Supreme Self. - Swami VivekanandaMeditation is sticking to one thought. That single thought keeps away other thoughts; distraction of mind is a sign of its weakness; by constant meditation it gains strength. - Sri Ramana Maharshi Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in Eternal awareness or Pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity. - Swami Sivananda This page contains a list of articles on meditation.
