Sometimes you just want to quit.
When you’re working on a large goal there will definitely be times when you suffer from setbacks and inconveniences. Not only that, but you will even feel that you’re not going anywhere, that you’re simply not making any progress.
It’s around this time that you think to yourself: this is too difficult. I’m going to quit.
Other factors might influence your pessimism. Maybe you feel that you’re getting older and that you’re losing energy. Or that you’ve been trying for much too long without seeing results. There could even be the chance that your dream is too big and it’s completely unrealistic to expect yourself to succeed.
Changing your attitude.
But it doesn’t have to be this way once you realize some things. Anything that’s worth accomplishing is going to cost work and hardships. There will be those moments when you want to give up. This is unavoidable. The road to success is filled with long hours and obstacles.
This is a given and there’s nothing you can do to change it.
So what can you change?
Your attitude. That’s the one thing you can make adjustments to in order to get past whatever obstructs your path.
Once you learn that you will certainly encounter resistance on the way to your goal, then you can mentally prepare yourself. Instead of feeling dispirited and frustrated, you can say to yourself: Here’s the next challenge. How can I overcome it, blast it out of the way so that I can continue straight to the gold?
Having fun with adversity.
Another lesson you’ll learn is that the more adversity you encounter, the more satisfaction you’ll achieve from earning your goals. If it’s too easy, there’s no sense of accomplishment. And unless you’re extremely lucky, nothing worthwhile comes easy. The universe just doesn’t function like that.
Whenever a new challenge arises, have fun with it the way you would when trying to solve a puzzle. See it as an opportunity to test your skills and intelligence, your problem-solving skills. An obstacle is merely a situation you don’t know how to fix yet. Once you acquire the knowledge needed to handle whatever’s blocking your path, the easier it is for you to handle it the next time a similar problem arises.
The more obstacles you remove from your path, the more extensive your list of skills. You become smarter, more skilled. No one becomes an expert without trial and error. You have to take it all as a learning experience.
Sometimes you’ve just got to do it.
When I was teaching myself how to build websites, I had no idea what I was doing. I had zero skills concerning that. I had to read the tutorials, watch videos, scrutinize instructions several times before I learned how to do it. It took me hours to set up WAMP and install WordPress into it. Of course, now it’s something that would take me ten minutes to do. But it took a lot of wrong turns and dead ends for me to acquire that specific skill.
The important thing is that I didn’t give up, I never surrendered. One of the most valuable lessons a human being can learn in this life is that if you want to go from A to B, you’ve got to expect that there’s going to be a lot of turbulence between those two letters.
It applies to all facets of life. If a man is shy and hates talking to girls, he’s got to do it if he wants a girlfriend. If you hate working out and going to gyms but want muscles, you’ve got to do it. If there’s a particular medicine you hate taking and yet you want to be healthy, you’ve got to take it.
It helps to keep your eyes on your main goal when you run into trouble. You’ve got to say yourself: Okay, right now I’ve got to walk through a war zone, but if I don’t get to the other side I’ll never get [insert what your goal is].
So expect that that there will be obstacles when you’re trying to achieve something. And when you do run into those obstacles, remember that if you want to reach your goal, you must find your way around them.
No matter what happens, bravely confront any challenge that materializes, and keep fighting for your goals!
