How to Create Positive Feelings

By Remez Sasson

What are positive feelings?
These are pleasant feelings of happiness, satisfaction, confidence and the expectation of success. These are feelings of compassion, love, tolerance and understanding.

Why do you need positive feelings?
They make you feel good, energetic, happy and able and willing to take action to pursue what you want to attain and achieve. They also make your life happier and easier, make you more likeable and improve your relationships.

How can you create positive feelings?

Below you will find a few tips and suggestions to help you create positive feelings.

1) Become aware of the importance of positive feelings and how they can improve your life.

2) Refuse to be involved with negative thoughts and feelings.

3) Upon waking up in the morning, smile and say to yourself silently or audibly: “I am going to have a wonderful day today. It is going to be a happy and successful day. I am going to stay patient and positive in every situation.”

4) Often, during the day, visualize for a few moments some happy moments and situations from your life, a place you enjoyed visiting, or being with people you love.

5) When things make you angry, wait a few seconds before reacting.

6) When you feel some despair, anger, unhappiness or frustration, don’t succumb to these feelings and let them grow. Visualize something happy, read something that makes you happy, repeat a positive affirmation or just try to create some happy feeling inside you. This might not be easy, as the negative feeling might be too strong, yet, do your best, and no matter how many times you might fail evoking a positive feeling, if you persist you will be able to change your attitude and feelings.

  1. Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal having an intent of throwing at someone, but you are the one who gets burn.

The more you hate, the more enemies you will have. The more you love, the more friends you will have.

What you do to others, others will do the same to you. For you to find joy, you need to give joy. For you to find love, you need to give love.

You cannot find an apple tree without growing it.

  2. I think it’s important to appreciate the positive things in your life and to make yourself aware of all the good things you have.

But if you have a real problem and feel very bad and depressed, I don’t think that repressing those problems and feelings will help you for a longer time! In this article it sounds like: “Just focus on the positive and the negative feelings will go away”. This won’t solve your problems, even though this could be a first step to change your life. I think it would be better to talk to someone and to try to find a solution.

It’s normal to feel unhappy from time to time and it could be a sign that something is not “right” in your life. And then it could be a good thing to think about why you are not satisfied and how you could improve that. Of course I agree that a positive attitude helps a lot. Especiallly if your problem isn’t so easy to change. Still I think that denying all the negative feelings will not help you to change anything.

Also, I have to say: this world is not only sunshine and lollipops… To ignore all the bad news, all the problems that do exist in this world would be naive and also dangerous. Because without people who aren’t able to think critical the “bad” people have it so much easier to use you for their causes.

P.S.: I apologize for my not so perfect english, it’s not my first language.

Positive thinking helps you to look for solutions, instead of giving up and sinking into depression.

There is misunderstanding of what positive thinking is. It is not an attitude of thinking and saying that everything is okay and ignoring problems. You are not advised to repress problems and feelings. This is not a healthy situation. You need to see the problems, but don’t spend time thinking of the difficulties and obstacles. Acknowledge the obstacles, but believe you can find a solution.

Positive thinking does not solve all problems, but it helps you to be more creative, have hope and actively do things.

If you feel unhappy and depressed the proper attitude is to find what the trouble is and attempt to solve it, and this positive thinking. You look at the problem and you look for solutions.

Listen to the news, know what is happening in the world, but it is not necessary to let bad feelings and negative thoughts fill your mind.

Positive thinking could make you feel better in the various situations in your life, but to be really useful, you also need to use common sense, sound judgment and positive action.
