Take Time To Do Things You Enjoy Doing

By Remez Sasson

Make a list of things you enjoy doing. This can be any simple activity, which you love doing, and that can be done in your daily life. Put in the list at least ten items, and then do something from this list every day. From time to time, as you discover more things that you like doing, add them to this list.

Some examples could be:

  • Taking a walk
  • Conversing with a friend that you like
  • Preparing a special dish
  • Eating a special meal
  • Reading a book
  • Taking a short nap at noon
  • Going to the movies
  • Meditation
  • Going to a lecture about a subject that you like
  • Eating out
  • Shopping
  • Painting
  • Playing with your kids
  • Walking on the beach
  • Swimming

Every day, take at least one item and do it. Get over laziness and procrastination. Don’t say that you don’t have time, because you do. Work and chores never end. You owe to yourself to do at least one thing you enjoy every day, even if it is only for a few minutes. This will bring joy, happiness, hope and good feeling into your life.

There is no limit to what you can put in the list, as long as you really like doing it, and it is within your possibilities. As to possibilities, quite often, we believe that we don’t have the time, cannot afford to do something, it takes too much time, there are more important things to do, etc, when in reality it is so simple, easy, enjoyable and within our immediate reach and possibility.

  3. Great tips. It’s so important to take time to do things that we really like doing. It’s amazing how much balance doing things we love can bring into our lives and how it can refresh our perspective. We just feel better when we do things we love. I had a wise person tell me once that it is valuable to do things we love because it makes us better in all areas of our lives. I’ve also found it helpful to do things I love that don’t cost money or impose a financial burden.
