Sometimes you just want to quit.

When you’re working on a large goal there will definitely be times when you suffer from setbacks and inconveniences. Not only that, but you will even feel that you’re not going anywhere, that you’re simply not making any progress.

It’s around this time that you think to yourself: this is too difficult. I’m going to quit.

Other factors might influence your pessimism. Maybe you feel that you’re getting older and that you’re losing energy. Or that you’ve been trying for much too long without seeing results. There could even be the chance that your dream is too big and it’s completely unrealistic to expect yourself to succeed.

How Do You Manage Your Time?

How do you manage your time, or maybe you don’t manage it at all, letting other people and circumstances dictate to you what to do?

If managing your time seems a big task, why not try to manage just a few hours of your day, maybe even just one hour for a start? If you are not be able to manage your time at your job, do so at least in you free time, where you have more control.

Managing your time means giving priorities to certain tasks, and leaving for later other, less important tasks. It is certainly more pleasurable, and requires less effort to read your mail than working. It is more pleasure to watch a movie than study, but this does not make the task done.

The route is inclining steeper and STEEPER, and through the blur of snowy wind you can see the outlines of giant snowdrifts forming in your path. The elements seem to be against you. You FEEL frozen in place, as if you cannot take another step!

Can You Stop Using Your Cell Phone for One Hour?

Are you attached to your cell phone, unable to leave it aside for a few minutes?

Can you travel by bus or train, or wait in line, without texting with your cell phone?

Do you always want to know what your friends are saying, or tell them where you are?

What can happen, if for just one hour you stop your curiosity?

Suppose you were on a small island for the next 24 hours with no cell phone at all? Can you survive?

Look around you, and you will see people in the train or the bus, in an elevator or at a restaurant, with their gaze fixed on this small instrument in their hands, oblivious to what is happening around them. It became an extension of their personality and their body.

If once, many years ago, people worshiped gods, now they worship the cell phone.

Turning Self Doubt into Confidence

If you have a clear direction in life, and feel ready to move forward, self doubt can be the fastest way to slow you down. If you believe the inner voice of doubt, it can easily rob you of your enthusiasm, bring up fear, and negate all the preparation you’ve done toward achieving your goal. So at some point along your path, it becomes necessary to turn self doubt into confidence.

Confidence is not arrogance, bluster, or posing. It’s grounded quiet assurance. Usually those with natural self-confidence had the good fortune to have grown up in an environment where trying new things was encouraged, and making mistakes was simply considered a normal part of learning, not a sign of failure. Those who lack self confidence usually didn’t have the opportunity early on to receive encouragement, make mistakes, and be encouraged to try again.

You Don’t Have to Participate in the Drama People Create

A few days ago, I came across the following saying:
“Just because someone invites you to drama, doesn’t mean you have to attend.”

This is so true, but sadly, an advice not frequently followed.

  • How many times have you been drawn into the drama someone created?
  • How many times you got too involved with other people’s problems or negative thinking?
  • How many times you felt manipulated by the drama people created?
  • How many times you felt exhausted and tired after such situations?
  • How many times you said things you shouldn’t say, when forced into emotional situations?

I daresay many times. And each time, you tell yourself that you wouldn’t let yourself get involved in such a situation anymore, but yet, you get involved again.

Next time, someone “invites” you into drama, telling you about their health and other problems, sharing their negative thoughts, worries or fears, or just criticizing or emotionally manipulating you, wait for a moment before reacting.

Questions About Lack of Focus and the Chatter in the Mind

Thinking and Lack of FocusI receive a lot of mail each day from website visitors. Some of them send me a mail, thanking me for the information at the website, and some asking questions concerning self-improvement, personal problems, meditation, motivation, creative visualization, and other related subjects.

I try to read all the messages, and if I can help, send a reply, or refer the person who asked the question to one of my articles.

If you have a question, read through the website, before emailing me, since the answer is most probably already there.

There are website visitors, who send very long emails, but since I have other things to do, such emails are either not read, or read only some time later. Short mails are always preferred, and they receive a faster response.

Many of the questions I receive concern concentration, focus and the inner chatter that goes on in the mind.

People are worried about their concentration and want to improve it. They tell me that they are unable to concentrate at work or when they study. They tell me that their mind wanders, and they find it difficult to fix it on one thing.
