Learn How to Say No

I am in the middle of several projects

  • Let people know when you have accepted other responsibilities
  • No need to make excuses if you don’t have any free time
  • No one will fault you for having already filled your plate

I am not comfortable with that

  • You might be uncomfortable with any of a number of issues
  • The people involved, the type of work, the morale implications, etc.
  • This is a very respectful way to avoid a sticky situation

I am not taking on any new responsibilities

  • You aren’t saying that you will never help out again
  • Lust that you feel your schedule is as full as you would like now
  • Understanding your limits is a talent to be expected

I am not the most qualified person for the job

  • If you don’t feel that you have adequate skills, that’s okay
  • It’s better to admit your limitations up front
  • The best way to avoid feeling overwhelmed down the road

I do not enjoy that kind of work

  • Life isn’t about drudgery — if you don’t enjoy it, why do it?
  • Don’t be afraid to let someone know you just don’t want to
  • Someone else is bound to enjoy the work you don’t

Peace already exists within each of us, if we only allow ourselves to feel its comfort. Peace of mind begins when we stop thinking … Continue Reading…

Developing Inner Strength While Crossing the Street

What do you do when you are walking on the pavement and wish to cross a small and narrow street, where there are no vehicles, but the light is red at the pedestrian’s crossing?

What do you if all the pedestrians are crossing the street, not heeding the traffic lights? Do you cross the street too, while the light is red, because everyone else is doing so?

Suppose you see all the people are crossing the street, but you stop and say, “I don’t care what they are doing, I am going to wait until the light changes.” You will most probably feel awkward and think that people are laughing at you or ridiculing you, because you are waiting for the light to change. You don’t want to attract undue attention and you don’t want everyone looking at you.

Do you know that you can use this situation to your advantage? You can use this situation to develop inner strength, courage, and decisiveness.

How to Find Peace of Mind

Everyone desires peace of mind, but the big question is how to find peace of mind, when there are problems and difficulties, when there are worries and anxiety, and when you are busy all the time with work, study and chores? When you are so busy all day long, how and when can you find peace of mind?

How to find peace of mind when your mind is constantly occupied with thoughts, taking you from one thought to another, from one worry to another?

You can find peace of mind, but this requires that you do something about it.

What is peace of mind? It is a state of inner peace, when your mind is calm, like the surface of a lake on a summer day. It is a state when you are not harassed by thoughts and worries, and you can avoid the thoughts you don’t want to think. It is a state of freedom from worry and anxiety, and from restless, negative and disturbing thoughts.

In this state there is calmness and happiness, better concentration, inner strength, and a heightened state of awareness. Your external life might not necessarily change, but your inner life, your mind, and your attitude would change.

How to find peace of mind?
