How to Overcome Stress and Anxiety Naturally

Two Doves

By Eva Bright

There is no denying that stress and anxiety are part of everyday life. Due to lifestyle changes and numerous challenges that people go through on a daily basis, these two mental health problems have become common.

However, excessive stress and anxiety can become dangerous health problems if not dealt with early. Besides weakening our immune systems and making us prone to illnesses, they can also make a person become unproductive in life. While there are several medications that can be used to manage stress and anxiety, there are many proven and natural methods of relieving these conditions.

One of the best natural methods of overcoming stress and anxiety is through meditation. Meditation is the practice of emptying the thoughts in the mind. This helps to clear your mind for a couple of minutes and achieve a state of inner calm. However, in order to achieve better results, you need a quiet, clean and peaceful room with a natural setting.

Developing a positive mindset is another outstanding way of overcoming stress and anxiety the natural way. A positive mindset is considered as the practice of developing positive thoughts. Creating a positive mindset involves changing your perception of a negative situation by repeating affirmations, positive notes, prayer or visualization. To develop a positive mindset you should place positive notes in places where you can see them frequently.

Another, simple tool to use when you find yourself in the midst of anxiety and stress is to document your emotions in a journal or diary. Documenting your emotions is the practice of recording your personal feelings towards a situation. The benefit of this is it can help you express your innermost thoughts, frustrations, fears and concerns in a therapeutic way. The act of writing helps to release stress and anxiety which is a great natural remedy.

Nature provides tranquil thoughts that are instrumental in keeping negative thoughts at bay, thereby lowering your stress and anxiety levels. There is no better way of dealing with anxiety and stress than appreciating the beauty of nature. Whenever you find yourself under immense stress and anxiety, taking a walk through a recreational park can be very relaxing.

When anxiety and stress start creeping into your world, you may try taking a different approach instead consuming medication which is a little costly and has several side effects. The above listed are some of the best known ways of naturally overcoming stress and anxiety. By applying these stress management techniques will help combat daily stress.

  2. Eva, thank you for your post.

We can’t be reminded too often on how important it is to take time to reduce our stress naturally.

My favorite way to reduce stress is to remain as positive as possible. It took me many years to develop a positive mindset, but, boy have I finally developed a great one!

My caution to readers is to always make sure your thoughts are TRUE FOR YOU. So many people have used affirmations, only to give up because they don’t “fit”.

  3. This is a very nice article. I really appreciate meditation and the benefits thereof. The fear of letting go and avoiding change do go hand in hand. I have found EFT/Tapping combined with Holistic Belief Reprogramming to be very effective in this process.

The music therapy sounds lovely and interesting!!

  4. Thank you Eva!!

I cannot tell you how helpful your article has been to me. I suffer a lot with stress and anxiety due to work stress. I have started to listen to more calming music to de-stress at work.

  5. Reducing stress can be greatly enhanced by remembering that energy follows thought. Whatever you pay attention to grows and increases, so pay attention to the good things more often. Also, remember that problems provide the best possible opportunity for growth.

  9. There are many ways to stop an anxiety attack. There are many stressors on our lives that causes panic and stress to increase dramatically. The problem is when the panic and stress attacks become so overbearing that the individual cannot handle the attack and are almost paralyzed from doing their daily activity because of the panic attacks. I find the going to the gym, reducing the work load in one life, spending quality time with the family and motivating oneself are good beginning steps to beat anxiety.
