Are you awake? I don’t mean awake in the usual sense of not sleeping. I am asking if you are really awake.
What does being awake mean?
Are you aware of opportunities that knock on your door?
Are you aware of how the people around you feel? Are you tactful enough in your relations with them?
Are you attentive when conversing people? Are you a good listener, or are you centered within your ego, not listening to the person talking to you?
Are you aware of your habits, and work on overcoming the negative ones and developing positive habits, instead?
Are you aware of the negative or useless thoughts that pass through your mind?
Are you aware of the sense of peace and happiness that is covered and hidden by your thoughts feelings and desires?
Are you awake enough to uncover the peace, happiness within you?
Are you awake enough to enjoy the sense of being and consciousness that awakens when you are really and truly awake?
Being awake leads to spiritual awakening.
Being awake means being aware of your inner self, spirit, and the real in you.
Inner peace leads to a state of being more awake. The more peaceful you are, the fewer are the thoughts that keep your mind occupied, and therefore, the more aware and awake you become.
“Compared to what we ought to be, we are half awake.”
– William James -
“If half a century of living has taught me anything at all, it has taught me that nothing can bring you peace but yourself.”
– Dale Carnegie -

It is a very important question to ask to yourself: in which degree I’m awake? Because if I would not be awake then I would miss my own life …
It is fascinating to see that most people are not awake, but it is improving. During last decade consciousness seems to increase on this planet.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Remez, I really enjoyed this post. A good few years ago now I had a period where I awoke as you describe here – I needed help doing it, it’s generally not something that just happens!
Being awake is something you can’t imagine before you get there… there’s a sparkle to life and even the difficult stuff is just stuff. It certainly takes presence of mind and being to ensure you remain awake – the old habits are hard to shake off!
I totally agree with you that the quieter your mind, the fewer the thoughts, the more awake you become! It’s so much easier to listen in that place – without all the other needs, desires, worries and fears churning around in your head!
This goes on my list of things I am improving in this lifetime!
This is a great post. It has such possibilities for future posts. A wonderful introduction to a broad subject.
Hi Remez,
Am thankful for taking me through the life course. I have been able to overcome the pains and all the problems that disturbs my Mind.I am awake and happy. I can see well now.
Thanks Remez, God Bles you greatly.
What causes me to be awake is to consciously will it. It’s easy to go under when we are feeling tired or doing routine chores and lifestyles.
Excellent article! Many people are so “caught inside themselves” that they don’t pay much attention to the outside world. It’s almost like they go through life in a fog. I know that I’ve been guilty of that and it is any easy trap to fall into if one is not careful. Excellent post. Keep up the great work.
Be blessed.
Are we awake?? Most people aren’t, really appreciated this post, most of the time people are looking everywhere but the one place that matters, no one can help us feel awake or find inner peace with yourself other then yourself, Dale said it best.
