People often send me questions about various subjects covered in my website. Here is one of them, about the terms Consciousness, Life Force and the Universal Consciousness.
Question:
You are probably the only author I came across who cover both self-realization and law of attraction in the writings at the same time. When you talk about self-realization, mind and consciousness are used. Mind is a tool and consciousness is the real you. This view/model is the same as the ones adopted by Eckhart Tolle and Mouni Sadhu.
When you talk about law of attration, the terms Life Force and Universal Consciousness are mentioned. Most of LOA authors use this concept as well. Is Life Force the same as Consciousness in self-realzation model? Or this Life Force is some sort of Universal Mind, which is a bigger tool than individual mind?
Answer:
Here are two of the reasons why I write on both self-realization and the law of attraction:
1. In this way, people who are interested in the law of attraction have the opportunity to go beyond materialism, into spirituality.
2. Most people, at least in the West, who are interested in self-realization, lead ordinary life like everybody else and have a job and family to support, so knowledge of the law of attraction can make life easier for them.
As to your questions about the Life Force and the Universal Consciousness, these terms are used to describe, as you said, something bigger than the individual mind. They are the manifestation of the Pure, One Consciousness in the mental, emotional and material worlds.
While Infinite Consciousness, as in self-realization, may be described as Emptiness – Perfection -One without a Second, Life Force and the Universal Consciousness are the manifestations of this Consciousness. They are the powers and energies that create and recreate the world and make things happen.
Actually, Consciousness, Life Force and the Universal Consciousness, are one, not three separate entities. Consciousness, when still and without thoughts is the Infinite Consciousness, and when active, it is the creative power of the Universe. Life Force and the Universal Consciousness being two of the various terms used by people to describe this active and creative aspect of Consciousness.

The problem I have with calling God something like “Universal Consciousness”, “The Life Force” and things like that, is that those terms tend to be missunderstood to mean that God is a “thing”, a force like gravity that influences our life and can be manipulated for our benifit.
Our “True Self” that we experience in Samadhi is a “being”. A person, if you will. We are “one” with the Consciousness that is the Supreme Consciousness. If the Supreme Consciousness were not a being, then we would not be a “being other”.
I do not speak from “ideas” that I have thought up but from my personal experience. In Samadhi, there is the experience of Sat Chit Ananda (truth, conciousness and bliss or peace. When we experience union with “The One without a Second”, we experience desirelessness. That does not mean that The Supreme Ultimate has no desires.
If the Supreme Ultimate had no desires He would never have created the manifest universe nor us. It takes desire to want to create something. I know among some groups of people using the word “God” is passe. However the word God is as good as any and better than most.
I think that some people who are trully knowledgeable don’t like to use the word, “God”, because it implies that the Supreme Ultimate Being is a “thing”, and especially a thing that is separate from us. Even so, The word God, describes a conscious, supernatural being, that not only can be experienced in Samadhi (or devine Union), but desires us to work toward that union.
Thanks for allowing me to comment on this.
The Infinite conciousness completely contradicts itself when a material mind tries to define its state of being. there is nothing and everything to say about it. in infinite conciousness there is infinite possibility, meaning anything you can ever imagine exists purely by it being possible.
Sending this message is just so ironic in the sense that i’m trying to make part of my conciousness (you, me and everyone) see some truth, but the infinite conciousness didn’t create us to know, it created us to play this game of life. experience… experience feeling limited instead of limitless, able to feel pain and suffering, emotion, thirst, hunger, love … all those things were created by our conciousness because thats it… such is life. theres no reason it created it. there was no time it decided or purpose it decided it for, IT HAS ALWAYS EXISTED. So the word created can’t even make sense of it because it is only the present that matters. the past (in a sense) never happened, that is to say it is only a memory of an experience we decided to create at that time, remembering time is also a material we created so … Oh my god. you could go on about it forever because the definition of infinite cannot be explained, it goes on forever and is limitless. do not try and get your head around it, instead just try and accept that life is such, and is what you make of it. there is no answer, there is just truth. you create the truth so really you should already know it. Literally speaking i just wrote this to myself.
Interesting observation from Albert and Ben. My lesson from both comments is that each individual experiences and relates to an understanding depending on the phase of awareness and consciousness one is at.
Much love and light.
Remez- Thank you for the interesting post.
It makes sense that Consciousness, Life Force and the Universal Consciousness, are one.
Our bodies are like one as well. They contain our mind, body and spirit and are one entity and they are also part of the the larger Universal Consciousness. And just as the Universe has its inherent laws, so do we as individuals.
When we play and create within these laws – whether that be gravity or thinking and acting in a ‘positive way,’ our lives seems to fall into place and the bigger Universe seems to feed our ‘smaller Universe’ in the most wonderful ways.
Synchronicity blends with our creativity to form a dance that is fun and exhilarating. One of the best ways to tap into the ‘laws’ and to find answers is by tuning into our inner Universe through meditation and contemplation.
I just recently read a book called ‘Wake Up, Your Life is Calling’ by Andy Feld. I mention this because Mr. Feld explains how to blend the inner and outer part of ourselves beautifully.
I recommend this particular book for those idealists that need to be grounded from time to time (like me). It still inspires one to reach for the stars while understanding that we still have to live here on the physical plane (darn it!).
Thanks for listening,
Kim
Thanks Remez and Kim above. What is prosperity in it’s truest sense and how are we to be happy in the present. My teacher, “The Ancient Ones” who assisted me with my recent book love simplicity. The understanding and embracing of universal oneness (universal consciousness) is deep within our cellular memory. Our task during this time of societal evolution is to reach within and REMEMBER!.
We are all ONE held together by love. This very basic simple statement is where happiness, joy, prosperity, manifestation, if fact, everything begins. From this point we can create a new golden age. Thank you to all who are assisting. Andy
Very good article about self-realization, very inspiring and I loved reading it. Cheers.
According to the kybalion trying to understand or know “the all” is a complete waste of time which I tend to agree with. How can one begin to even know or understand “the all” if the all contains everything all being plants animals stars planets and so on. This spirit or universal mind in its entirety must be unknowable – it must always remain remain a mystery unknowable. It is like a fish trying to understand the entire ocean in its entirty all at once. Completely impossible!
I agree with you Chris, the mind cannot understand and grasp everything. It has its limitations.
I also say that that when the mind is quiet, when there is real inner peace inside, one awakens to higher truths. When the mind is peaceful there is more understanding, though this is not mental understanding, but some sort of intuitive understanding.
