A New Book About the Power of Concentration

I am happy to announce that I have written a new book, titled, “How to Focus Your Mind”. The book will be published soon, and be available for sale through this website.

The book instructs, advises, and teaches how to strengthen the power of concentration, and contains exercises, and a wealth of useful information and tips.

The mind is a great tool, but it requires discipline. It is in a constant state of movement, just like a butterfly that flies from one flower to another, never standing still for more than a brief moment. If your mind wanders where it wills, and you cannot focus it on what you are doing, how can you complete a task or achieve a goal?

Can you Focus Your Mind?

Can You Focus Your Mind?Hold a pencil in your hand, look at your watch to measure the time, and try to focus your full attention on the pencil. Look at it from all sides, trying to imprint its image on your mind.

The moment you discover that you lost your focus, look at your watch to measure the time.

How long can you focus on the pencil, before your attention or your eyes wander somewhere else? Can you measure the time in minutes, or just in a few seconds?

If you can measure the time in minutes, you are lucky, but if it is only seconds, you need to do something about your focus.

When you write a letter, read a book, or study for an examination, how many times do you stop, and either, think about unrelated subjects, or get up and do something else?

When learning a new skill, working, or doing anything else, do you focus on what you are doing, or does your mind wander to other things?

Are you absent minded in situations that require complete focus of mind?

Peace Comes From Within

Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. – Buddha –

  • If you have more money, would you be more peaceful?
  • If you achieve your dreams, would you experience more peace?
  • Do you think that you enjoy a state of inner peace, only after you are financially secure?
  • Do you believe that inner peace is dependent on external circumstances?

If you believe so, think again.

Inner peace is not dependent on circumstances or external situations. Inner peace comes from within you.

Often, after achieving something, finishing something, or solving a problem, you experience a brief moment of peace, but soon forget it, embarking on the next project, goal, task or problem. This sense of inner peace is of short duration, and is unstable.

Passive Concentration Versus Active Concentration

As you know, concentration is very important in everyone’s life, and it is one of the main reasons for success or failure in all areas of life.

Most people find it difficult to focus their mind. However, there are times when they do concentrate, but this is a passive concentration. Let me explain.

When you read a fascinating book, do you sometimes forget everything else, and get completely immersed in the book?

When you watch a good movie or a good show, do you sometimes become oblivious to everything else, even to hunger, your chores, or to the people around you?

When you are engaged in an activity that you like very much, do you forget about the time, and it seems to pass very fast?

At such times you can ignore thoughts, noises, people, pain and problems. It is as if the activity you are engaged it, draws your whole attention, without any effort on your part. This is passive concentration.

Your Dominant Thoughts – How to Take Advantage of Them

Not only do we become what we think about, we do what we think about. Whether your thoughts are positive or negative your mind will act on them. If we are directed by our dominating thoughts, why not implant our minds with things that will benefit us?
Learn how you can do this…

Self belief is a wonderful thing.

I know from my own life experiences that whenever I have been filled with dread or doubt I am unable to perform at a satisfactory level. Just the other day I was using a claw hammer and a lever to dismantle a packing crate. At the time I was making quite a noise hammering away when my wife came down to the workshop to see what I was doing.

Jokingly, I quipped: “I haven’t hit my fingers with the hammer yet!” Guess what I did within minutes of uttering those words? Yep. Bang. Yeeowch! Actually, I didn’t say that. It was something more colorful.

You see, in retrospect, what I did was plant the seed in my mind that I was going to hit my fingers with the hammer. My mind set about fulfilling the thought.

People Judge You Like They Do A Book, By The Cover

I’m sure that you’ve heard the old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. However, according to book publishers, that is exactly what we do. Book publishers will tell you that your cover design is one of the most important decisions that you can make when creating a book.

The reason is that research has proven that when making a decision to purchase a book, most people spend about 3 seconds looking at the front cover and about 7 seconds looking at the back cover. Maybe they will flip through the book quickly; nevertheless, if they like the “look” of the book then they will buy it. Some may flip through the book to see of there is any content – but most don’t. They purchase the book based on its “look.”

Strangely enough, people do the same thing with you; they judge you by your “cover” – your image.

We all create an “image,” in people’s mind. That “image,” can often be quite different that we have of ourselves. Yet, other people’s image of us may be more correct. Yet, their image is more correct. Why? Because it is sometimes hard to see ourselves as we appear to others and that appearance is, usually, more aligned with the “true” you. (We are just “too close to the forest to see the trees.”)

For example, you may feel that you are a good person, a hard worker, and a good and trusted friend who is always fun to be around; however, others may see you as a person who is insecure, who gossips, and is whiny.

Why Visualization Can Help You Change Your Life

If you have read the articles at this website, you would have found that there are many articles on visualization, and on how to use it to improve your life.

How can visualization improve your life? How can imagination make changes in your life? Let’s explore this fascinating subject.

Visualization is a sort of mental programming. You project mental images on the screen of the mind, and in time, shorter or longer, the subconscious mind accepts the mental images, and you start thinking and acting in accordance with these images. This is why it is important to visualize only what you really want, and only things that can improve your life, and which do not hurt others.

What actually happens when you visualize? The mental image is projected on the subconscious mind over and again, and eventually you begin to see the outside world through the mental image in your mind, and you start acting in accordance with this image. It is like a rehearsal that you do in your mind, which eventually changes your outlook, actions, and habits.

When something occupies your mind, be it something positive or something negative, you talk about it, expect it, and see it happening, and this is an important step toward the realization of any goal.
