Making a Major Facelift to the Website

By Remez Sasson

For some time now, my wife has been suggesting that I make some minor changes to the website (not the blog). She suggested I change the colors, the gray and red, to other colors, and also change the header. At first, I refused, since, the website looks okay, but then I agreed to take one page, and do some experiments with it, to see what to change about it.

When I started, one thing led to another, and then I found myself redesigning the whole website, and planning of making a major facelift to it. I have made a major facelift to the website a few years ago, but since than the website has grown and the Internet changed, so it is now a good time to make this change, which, in my opinion, will take the website many steps further.

How will the website look?
The website will look even better than it is now, with different colors, a different header, and easier navigation. Since screens are getting larger, and reading lines from one end of the screen to the other end are becoming inconvenient, I am designing the pages to be narrower, not covering the whole screen. There will probably be a few more topics covered, “like” and “tweet” buttons added, and an easier way to find the articles.

Don’t worry, except for a few guest articles, all the other articles will stay, and more will be added.

I believe it will take a few weeks, until the newly designed website is ready to be uploaded, since the changes have to be implemented in every page, and therefore, there is a lot of work to do. I have changed the look of this blog a few months ago, and now it is the time for the website to be redesigned.

I will keep you posted on the progress.

  1. Hi Remez,
I have a suggestion – please consider adding buttons so we can forward our posts to facebook and linkedin.
I enjoy the blog posts here – thank you for providing the forum for this.
I’d love to be a guest blogger if you have openings in the future.

  2. Thank you Wendy for your comment.

Actually, there is a button at the top of each article with a link to Facebook, but for some reason it doesn’t always appear when the page loads. I intend to change the script of the button soon.

In the newly designed website there will be links and buttons to Facebook, Twitter, and Google +1 on each page at both the blog and the website. I will also take your suggestion and add a button to Linkedin.

    Thank you
