How to Sit in Front of the Computer

By Remez Sasson

I have come across this educating video, showing how to sit correctly in front of the computer.

Some people bend their back, while sitting in front of their computers. Others, sit too far away from the screen, which is not healthy for the eyes. Some have the screen placed too high or too low. In other cases, there is too much light falling on the screen, making it i difficult to read.

All this can be tiring for the eyes, the hands and the back. This video, without words, and only through animations, shows how to sit correctly.

Enjoy the video and post your comments below.

  1. I definitely need a pillow. Everything else lines up. How about an hour and a half and then go do something physical?

  2. It is a very good idea to do something physical every now and then, such as walking, stretching, or some physical work. It is also recommended to shift the eyes away from the computer every now and then, in order to give them some rest.

  3. People don’t take precaution until something starts hurting… I know I didn’t take much notice until my lower back started hurting :(

It may appear counter-productive but a stretch or a break (for 5min) every 30min is necessary. If you are stuck in front of a computer everyday it will take its toll on your body… you’re no superman :)

Practicing proper posture and preparation is also a good disciplinary aspect that will manifest throughout other aspect in your life.

I’ve looked into voice-activated typing softwares to prevent wrist injuries. We still have another 5-10 years before they perfect the darn things :)
