Full Version: Not Finding Time to Meditate...

"It's hard to find time to meditate in this busy world" is just another trick of the ego. I found out that, with a little good will and intention, during an ordinary day you can add up hours (hours not minutes!!) to continue your meditation practice.

Once you know what you're shooting for (peace of mind, self realization, disciplined mind...etc) you can easily use ordinary situations to train yourself. If you happen to be standing in a line you could use that time to meditate. If you have a ten minute break at work, use it to take some conscious breaths (if you practice breathing meditation)

If you love concentration you can select some of your ordinary activities and transform them into exercises by putting your full attention in what you're doing.

If you want to lessen your ego, one way is to detachedly observe it in others. So use some minutes of your social situations for this practice. And the list can go on an on...

Not finding time to meditate, calm your mind, develop concentration, lessen your ego etc etc is just an excuse. For example, just think of the following simple scenario:

Suppose that each day you watch 3 hours of TV. What if, from now on you just watch it for 2 and a half hours? That's saving 30 minutes a day, 15 hours a month, 5475 hours a year!!!! WOW... all this just by a simple act of reducing the time spend in a single area of your life.

Just think how much you could accomplish if you eliminate or at least reduce many relatively useless (on the long run) activities in your life.
I find my only real time at the moment is the evening and when I do I find I fall asleep. so I need to work on this

i really like where this is going. I never stoped to think about hours or even minets to add up to something like that....thanks for letting me know...
It is amazing, but we find time to do the things that are important to us. A lot of what we do is simply based on habits that we have formed, for example we brush our teeth every day, because we value our teeth and want to look after them. Set aside a regular time for meditation and it can become a habit. If we spend 5 minutes brushing our teeth every day, why not spend 5 minutes in meditation - which is certainly of great benefit to our mental health?

If you see it as important, then I encourage you to make it a priority. You will love the results you get!
Nice tips blissfulpeace, and the saved 30 minutes can be dedicated to meditation. So if you are living an stressful life then stop thinking and start meditating. Meditation can wipe away the day's stress and give you the inner peace.
it isn't the thing you have to find a lot of time, you just need to adjust your daily routine and nothing else.
