There’s a daily ritual I practice before taking any action. I’ll share it with you. Some will believe in its power, and others will not. However, I’m not asking you to believe in anything. It simply works for me and perhaps it will work for you?
I’m writing of a ritual of prayer and creation, one that establishes and reinforces connection, intention, beliefs, and thoughts. I’m not sure exactly how or why it works, but the practice produces results.
Gratitude
As soon as I awake, I begin each day creating a mental gratitude list. I run through my mind all of the things I am grateful for. I will give thanks for things like my health, my family, my friends, my home, where I get to live; the list can be quite long. We all have so much to be grateful for. You should even be grateful for the challenges, struggles, and trials you currently have because they are only strengthening your character and stimulating growth. If you and everyone you know were to throw all of your problems into one big pile, once you saw what everyone else was dealing with you would quickly snatch up all of your problems and take them back. So, be grateful for your challenges, too. An additional benefit of running through your gratitude list is that the emotions of gratitude and fear cannot exist at the same time. Being grateful causes fear to disappear, which allows you to perform. Start the day by being grateful.
Visualize the Day
After expressing my gratitude, I start asking for what I want to happen that day. I frequently ask for a safe and timely arrival to the office, my phone calls to be fruitful and fun, my meetings to be productive, for everyone I encounter today to experience increase, to complete my daily to-do list, and to arrive home relaxed without stress. If you do not ask, you will not receive.
Make Room to Receive
The next step in my ritual (and keep in mind that I’m going through this practice while I’m waking up, exercising, eating breakfast, showering, and getting dressed) is to foster thoughts that I’m worthy of my goals and dreams. I’m not creating thoughts of entitlement, but thoughts that it’s okay to receive, regardless of how or from where my wants appear. I ask myself what can I give up or get rid of that no longer serves me to make room for what I want. Nature abhors a vacuum, and by creating space in my life, what I want has the ability to appear, and more often than not, it does.
Work Your Plan
After expressing my gratitude, asking for what I want, visualizing my day, and making room to receive, I simply let go and let God do the rest. There is nothing left to do but work your plan and accept your results. Throughout the day, I will listen to my intuition and I will listen to others’ as well. God, the Universe, Mother Nature, whoever it is for you will speak to you throughout the day. It is up to you to listen for it. I listen by monitoring my thoughts and trusting my intuition, my gut and my first inclinations.
Hope that helps
Best regards,
Matt the Do Over Guy
