How to Use Affirmations Effectively
Affirmations can be very useful to counteract negative attitude, to motivate and inspire, to change your attitude toward situations, and consequently change and improve them.

In order to use affirmations effectively you need to:

1. Identify what attitude you wish to change, or where you need motivation.

2. Choose affirmations appropriate for the attitude or situation you wish to change.

3. Use the present tense in the affirmations.

4. Use positive words.

5. Write down your affirmations.

6. Repeat the affirmations often, with attention and with faith, feeling and believing that what you are repeating has already become reality.

7. Avoid thinking negative thoughts related to the attitude your situation you wish to change.

You can find more about how to use affirmations effectively at:

What is your experience with affirmations, and what are your suggestions for using affirmations effectively?

I find affirmations are great when i am doing usual things like driving, cooking, running etc. Just keep repeating them in my head over and over and i start to get into a flow state which is really enjoyable.
I would recommend trying it next time your on your way to work or something.

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
There are a few ways I've used affirmations effectively. One is repeating them with a lot of energy, emotion, and enthusiasm like Brian Tracy suggests in his audio program, The Psychology of Achievement.

In that program, he suggested these affirmations:

I like myself.
I feel happy.
I feel healthy.
I feel terrific.

Another way is to repeat the affirmations while in an alpha state. While in an alpha state, affirmations tend to bypass conscious filters that would normally resist the suggestion. The subconscious records everything whether you are asleep or awake, so you can also play affirmations while sleeping to bypass conscious filters.

I'm not sure how to explain getting into an alpha state in a succinct way. The simplest way to do it though, is repeat the affirmations just after waking up or meditating, and just before going to bed.
After a little bit of googling, I found an explanation of the alpha state that is reasonably clear, and wasn't overly salesy. http://www.brainwavesblog.com/alpha-brain-waves/

The article promotes brainwave entrainment products at the end of the article, but I thought it still provided a reasonably clear explanation of the alpha state.

Play affirmations while you sleep.

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
I had a program on my computer that would subliminaly flash an affirmation onto the screen every five seconds or so.

You could bearly see it so it didn´t bother you at all.

It was a great program though because you could edit the affirmations in loads of different categories and choose which ones you see..

I had to have my computer reformatted recently so I´m not sure if I still have the program but I was really impressed with it.

You can do, have and be whatever you want!

It is always a good idea to start the day, when you awaken in the morning, with a few positive affirmations.

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
I have had great results with affirmations while I was in ALPHA state of mind. When being relaxed in this way it was really easier to assimilate my affirmations.

Love and light,

Chris

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
In addition to starting your day with affirmations, it is also very effective to do your affirmations just before you fall asleep so that those positive words are your last thoughts before you fall asleep.

Say them throughout the day as you do your daily tasks and when you have 'quiet' moments, write them on paper repeatedly because the written word has a lot of power over the mind. To be effective, writing things down should not be by rote or a routine but actually focusing on the words you write.

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
Affirmations do indeed work, if you do them correctly.

In the middle of my college years, I began using affirmations to boost my performance. I would take a study break by going into the bathroom, lighting up a cigarette, looking at myself in the mirror, and confidently saying to myself "I am a straight 'A' student" as I smoked. I would keep repeating this affirmation until I was done smoking.

Before I began using affirmations, I was a "C" student. No matter how hard I studied, I couldn't break the "C" barrier. Maybe I subconsciously believed that I wasn't smart.

But once I began using affirmations, my grades began to rise. And my classmates wanted to study with me, because they viewed me as smart. My professors also viewed me as smart, since I was able to correctly answer all of their questions during class discussions and was acing all of their exams.

I became an "A" student!

P.S. When using affirmations correctly, you don't have to smoke. But you do have to say them EMOTIONALLY!

Sincerely,
Al A. Gammate

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
I agree with your entire list about using affirmations effectively.

There is one more that I have seen others having great success with and that is by using thanksgiving/gratitude both for the things we already have and for the future things we we want to manifest into our lives.

All the best

RE: How to Use Affirmations Effectively
I use affirmations a lot to feel better. When I am struggling to do something I use.

I can do x!
I am loved and people know I can do x!
Nothing can stop me from doing x!
It is easy to do x!
X is easy!
