Negative Thinking caused by need for instant gratification?
Anyone think that the reason we think negative somtimes, is because we want instant gratification? i.e. I think REALLY negative on Monday, becuase I wish the weekend were here again! I don't take into consideration I have responsibilities to work between now and friday afternoon, I'm just feeling sorry for myself because the weekend's gone already! Anyone else think like this? Huh

That's interesting. I'm less of a gratification addict but boy can I be impatient (sometimes).

Most of the time I am little bit like this.
I think there is another point beside the need for instant gratification. I think that for many people there is also the resistance against some non-optimal experiences that we have. For example, if I hate my job, and I struggle while I am at work, problem is not just the fact that weekend has passed, but there is also the problem with different "negative' experience I will have during week at my work.

.
Meditation can help a lot in developing patience. Especially meditation based on being in the present moment.

It can help to meditate every day. There are lots of books out there on the subject, although the ones most relevant to patience would be any of these meditation traditions, "Insight Mediation", "Mindfulness" or "Centering Prayer". (They are all different traditions but they will all help patience).

The reason why we feel these things sometimes because were not prepared to do our task before that time will come. You tend to overly enjoyed the moment that you're free and didn't think or consider the responsibilities that you're going to do right after that. You must always take everyday as a part of your daily task and accomplishment, though on weekends you need to relax but it could help if you do it that way.

Lately I have been dwelling in very negative thoughts! Its like u are using metaphor to link your emotions. So you need to break free from it. Mere words can't help you to express much of what you really feel like inside .. so you speak with "image" or linking it to situation. You have to grow bigger than your task or responsibility ! not just sail away in negative thoughts or wishing things will change or go away. Pick it up and fix it =) take action !!

Well, as human as we are, it's only natural that we tend to get negative at times, since life is not all about roses. Maybe we tend to feel this way, is that we don't want to feel uncomfortable and yes, sometimes it's true that we want to get instant gratification of our needs. But there can also be other reasons like, impatience and impulse.

Hi all. You definitely want to look for the best in everything you do. You are always in a better situation than someone else. Be greatful for what you have and do not concentrate on what you don't have.

RE: Negative Thinking caused by need for instant gratification?
I used to feel a lot that way when I was on a job I hated. So, I believe it's actually wanting to avoid doing something we don't like. Of course sometimes, we may not like doing something, but we have to out of responsibility, like looking after the family's needs. In such a case it is good to remember that we do it out of love

Negative thinking develops when one continue to struggle and go for opportunities and repeatedly fails and this only happens when you programmed your subconscious mind to create a negative life.
