Positive thoughts. A secondary effect!
I've become aware that What you think produces a feeling that is true in your heart and is immediately reflected in your body. When you think something that pleases you, your eyes are bright with light and you are beautiful, and open. If you think “i’m beautiful and confident, or “I’m Abundant ,and powerful, and lovely!”, or “I enjoy my Life” whatever you want that pleases you, and you see yourself in that way, without judgement of “this is true” or “this is false”, simply for the pleasure of watching yourself in that way, not only you will feel good (which is the most important thing), but others will see you that way too, and you will begin to catch the opportunities that everyday are brought to you, ’cause you won’t postpone your action to the time in which you will be “rich”, or”good enough” or “ready”, or “perfect”!
Ever noticed it?

RE: Positive thoughts. A secondary effect!
In my experience, when I make affirmations by rote, I might as well not bother because it is like throwing water on a glass, it simply runs off without any impact. Lots of our thought patterns are habitual and therefore automatic, whether it is positive or otherwise. There are techniques for reining back these random thoughts and perhaps change the habit so that the dominant thought patterns become habitually positive. The best and lasting way to achieve this is through learning to meditate or practice of meditation, which helps to become more ‘aware’.
With regard to affirmations, when you write something down, you tend to think about it during the process of writing and although I have some 'favourite' affirmations, I often write them down as I say them. Affirmations change your mood when you say them with intent, that is, you have a purpose/goal in mind, and you visualize the outcome of that purpose/goal as you 'affirm' the accomplishment of that goal or purpose through your affirmations.
Finally but not least is using creative visualization to 'think something into existence' including your positive feelings and mood. This has been covered extensively by many people in the forum under the creative visualization thread.
