Slow down or calm down?
Like many people, I find that life whizzes by sometimes, like a fast train and some may say life is moving too fast while others may think it is rather slow. Do you think the pace of life is fast or slow, especially in the West? Should we slow down or calm down?

RE: Slow down or calm down?
I think that in general, life can seem boring or slow, but there's sooo much going on. It just depends, sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow. I think it is usually beneficial to simplify stuff; not always necessary to make life slower, but bring it to the basics; reading rather than TV, camping rather than resorts, going to the beach, just relaxing or thinking. It just helps to get back to basics, which makes you realise how awesome the universe and the human race are. And that always makes me think that God must be behind it, so knowing him is how I find peace.

See my Site for my experience of life, how i see it, and tips on stuff like free music and software, making life easier and enjoying yourself.

Yes, I agree that coming down to basics is essential. The other day, I was fortunate to participate in a meditation session in a pine forest and it was an amazing experience - taking in the magnificence of the universe, appreciating and enjoying the beauty that sorrounds us. It is awesome and has such a calming effect.

Indeed.

Especially in the West, life is moving too fast too soon and sometimes we can't relax anymore and it seems life is only just about working and we don't know how to slow down and live anymore.

That's why I just finished my latest ebook about slowing down, relaxing, but taking charge of your life, but also about productivity. How timely.

It's still in the works now...

I say take a deep breath and enjoy whatever situation that you are in. If it is fast paced, when things slow down treat yourself to something nice and enjoy it. If it is too slow, try and pick some things up so you can perhaps discover new hobbies and thus making time more exciting.

Yes, I think we all need down time sometimes. So that we can take a break, breathe.

Too much hurrying and a constant fast-paced lifestyle devoid of rest and slowing down may result to stress, or worse, breakdowns

I believe the pace of life in the west is fast paced, and that explains the disease, illness, hostility, and high tension.

Haste make waste. Its the quality of life we should be looking for. Slowing down a little will help us think , control and concentrate on our growth

Yes indeed, The pace of time in the West seems a little bit fast. Yet, in reality, if you really hurry in everything, it was like running out of time, so you have to slow down and keep yourself relax, manage your time wisely. Everything must be in place, so your mind and soul are always in peace and good health, no worries and any sickness.

Each thought has the power to attract onto itself more thoughts like it and thus strengthen its momentum. Once a thought gathers momentum, it can almost create a wall of thoughts that ends up stifling any sense of spaciousness in your mind.

Almost everyone would like answers to some of the really tough questions life makes us ask.

Why do bad things happen to good people?

Why do people die when they are still needed?

Why is there suffering in the world?
