Sustained motivation
Hello all. I am struggling with sustaining my motivation for ... anything. I don't have a problem with becoming motivated in the first place - I get excited about new things. But the novelty wears off fast. This has been a problem for me forever.

Right now, I need to be movitated to pay off debt, get in shape and finish school. I'd also like to stay motivated to keep on top of chores. I want all of these things, but I can't sustain my energy for them for long.

Right now, I am in the first week of a running program. I want to stick with it. I am also halfway through some college courses - I got an A+ in my first course, then signed up for these two and my commitment is waning. I find other things to do - like search for motivation forums.

Any suggestions? I keep thinking that I should just DO IT, but my focus gets so scattered and/or I don't get the results I want so I abandon the effort completely (ie. if I had gotten a B in my first course, I might not have bothered continuing on). Perfectionism is playing a bit of a role here, I think, along with an overall lack of focus. I just don't know what to do to combat these things.

RE: Sustained motivation
There is not much that I can suggest you in this case but one thing I would like to tell you is you must not lay down just because of small things. If things are not getting right don't let yourself down and always keep you head tight towards your goals. If you want to get your goals you need to kill the laziness within yourself. It probably will help you and you will get the benefits for you motivation.

RE: Sustained motivation
Great achievers have a habit. They "see" themselves living the life of their dreams. They imagine already having what they want. Teach yourself to visualize yourself succeeding. See the light at the end of the tunnel before even starting. Create an inner dialog of success and allow yourself to already feel the feelings of achievement.
