It is the nature of the mind to wander from one thought to another, dwell on the past and worry about the future. To change this behavior you need to train your mind to act differently. It will put a fight when you start to train it, but if you persevere, it will eventually turn into an obedient, calm and sharp tool.

What can help you:
Developing some degree of willpower and self discipline.
Teaching your mind to concentrate.
Practicing meditation.

Also endeavor to shift your thoughts to positive thoughts, and try to be more emotionally and mentally detachment. Being emotionally and menatlly detached toward your thoughts and toward what people say and think about you is a great antidote against negative thinking and worrying, fears and unncessary thoughts.

I\'m not a doctor but it is natural for our brain to wander and have many thoughts all at once especially bad incidences/memories of the past. Sounds airy fairy but try some breathing techniques and meditation to help calm yourself and you should find peace Angel

Good luck!

RE: wandering wandering mind
all the things that happen to us make us what we are The thing to do is to make sure you like yourself and from there you move on. We all have had things that aren't nice happen to us some worse than others all we can do is sort them out then dump the rest of the garbbage. maybe along the way we can help someone else out

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, But it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

According to A Course In Miracles, forgiveness is the key to happiness. Forgive the people in your life who have hurt or mistreated you, for someone has likely hurt and mistreated them in the past as well.

Although you cannot change the past you can heal your life and your mind through the process on continual forgiveness. In addition, for whatever part you may have played in the above scenarios, forgive yourself as well.

Forgiveness is the balm that heals all wounds.

I have the same problem as you... a wandering mind. what i have started to do is in keep a meditation journal and i have a section devoted to all of those things that pop up in my head, well after i put them down on paper they seem to go away. i guess its kinda like draining the thought from my head.

RE: wandering wandering mind
i feel that thinking negative thoughts is a natural and erroneous sense of protection...if i forsee the negative outcome, i protect myself from the harmful suprize and am therefore "prepared" for the future situation...this is extremely harmful. I am gonna try my best to let this false sense of protection go...it is difficult though, when i do not "imagine" the worst, i feel naive and helpless and i lose sense of control. this is also a false sense of protection....what if something GOOD can happen? what if my life is meant to be good, loving, and full of blessings? what if that is just as much as an option compared to the latter? Maybe if you also ask youself this question with curiosity, it will helpSmile My hope is that i will retrain this pessimistic brain, and may my life be good and fulfilling.
