Re: Welcome to the Motivation Forum!
Hello,

I think i am on the right place. This really good forum that i searched for a long time.
If we talking about the Motivation then in my view "Motivation is the internal condition that activates behavior and gives it direction; and energizes and directs goal-oriented behavior. The term is generally used for humans but, theoretically, it can also be used to describe the causes for animal behavior as well."

Here are few tips to get motivated:

1. Find out a real reason”which motivates you to keep moving towards your goal.

2. Find out the real cost”of failing this goal. A cost which would motivate you to run away from failure and push you to towards your goal.

3. Keep reminders for both of them The reason and the cost.

4. Share with your family and friends what you plan to do; especially with those who will hold you into account.

5. Break up your goal in small do-able tasks.

6. Set landmarks. Acknowledge yourself and celebrate whenever you cross a landmark.

7. Chart your progress numerically.

8. Don't forget to have fun.

9. Find a community related to your goals.

10. Find a mentor for yourself.

What's your views? ???

Regards,
Olivia

Olivia,

They are some very good tips! They summarise the things we need to consider when we are searching for motivation in times of struggle!

Using strategies like this will be of benefit those many people who constantly claim they lack the 'get up and go' to do the necessary tasks to accomplish their goals.

Paul

We all need to be motivated always because admittedly, there are times when we feel discouraged and lazy about some aspects in our lives. My best source for motivation is the Word of Jesus!

RE: Welcome to the Motivation Forum!
@Olivia:
I fully agree with you, except point 2! Having too much pressure (by avoiding failure by any means) is rather demotivating for me! I avoid thinking of failure and rather use all my imagination and power to achieve my goal!
@wolfie: Maybe because we try to achieve to much in too short time? For example if you try to climb a mountain it may seem incredibly high, but if you climb it step by step you will reach the top, and all you have to do is to plan the next step, and the next one and so on! And after each landmark, as Olivia discribes it, you have earned yourself a reward, it must not be something big, but something you really like, even if it is an evening just for your wellness with no disturbance or something like this!

RE: Welcome to the Motivation Forum!
Inspiration, motivation and optimism are the 3 important keys to live a happy and successful life. Everyone desires success and happiness in life, but very few actually achieve the happiness they wish for, because they have a fear of failure. This fear of losing prevents them from accomplishing their desired goals. In order to get a happy and successful life, everyone should try to keep himself/herself motivated by reading motivational quotes. Think positively and live your dreams.Big Grin

And yes, don’t be afraid of failure because every failure teaches us the secrets of success.Wink

RE: Welcome to the Motivation Forum!
I'm still learning about motivation. I think I have a lot of deep-seated, passive-aggressive issues (I'm not the mean type of passive-aggressive, but the self-defeating kind).

It's still a learning process for me.

I know that perfectionism paralyzes me, and so does any kind of abuse. Also any kind of structured requirement to get things done (I do get things done, but there is always resistance).

RE: Welcome to the Motivation Forum!
Motivation. The name already says its meaning. We have to find "motives" or reasons to be active, "action". Suddenly, some important or just necessary regular activities seems to be not enough to give me the enthusiasm and happiness. I keep doing them, no matter what, but is missing the joy, the fun. Let me try the positive thinking...I look like my 10 year son and his so boring attitude...

People lose motivation, because they lose belief. If you can't believe in what you are doing, then you will drain yourself of the energy necessary to accomplish the goal. Goals are suppose to excite us. if your goals don't excite you then you may have to consider doing something more believable. The accomplishment of smaller goal will build your belief for what is possible for you.

Also your focus will be a lot stronger if you focus on one project at a time. Without focus it is so hard to intensify your motivation. Why? become you will not stay on a project long enough to see it succeed

RE: Welcome to the Motivation Forum!
Yes, I agree that belief and focus keep one staying motivated for a long time. As Olivia pointed out at the beginning, there are several ways to get motivated and break them down into bite size chunks. One of the reasons people tend to give up on their dream or goal is if it looks or feels remote.

Someone mentioned how to stay motivated during this recession where jobs are becoming harder to come by. As Courtneyhouser said above, belief is key to success. If you believe with all your heart and emotions and you set about asking the 'how can I' questions, gradually ideas will start coming to you and you will begin to notice things that didn't seem to be there before. Your burning desire and belief that you will get that job will be transposed into your mindset and body language so that when you are completing application forms for a job or indeed attending an interview, you are doing so with intent and absolute belief that you will get it. It works...
