That doesn't make sense to me, Create Sun. That which observes must exist. If the Self didn't exist then what is it that has the awareness that it doesn't exist? By the very nature of something not existing, "it" would have no way for "it" to know that it does not exist.

how do we know if something is true? take it seriously, if it isnt true you would not get deluded. look at it , and consider it.
consider the truth of the idea that you dont exist and confront it with the opposing viewpoints that arise. until you discard it wich is impossible.
