Do subliminal messages work? The honest answer is I don’t know. I never used them, and I never thought of using them.

Let me ask you:

Have you seen a runner, swimmer or tennis player win a medal, just by listening to subliminal messages, without training for hours each day?

Did you meet, read or hear about someone who became rich, without making plans, working, or doing business, except just listening to subliminal messages?

Do you believe you can improve your concentration, self-discipline or motivation just by listening to subliminal messages, without some inner work and training?

I am not saying that subliminal messages do not work. They might work to some extent with some people and in certain circumstances.

I believe in conscious work and developing real skills, where you are conscious and aware of what you are doing. Programming your mind through outside means might work sometimes, but it does not give you mastery over your life.

What Are Subliminal Messages?

For those who don’t know, subliminal messages are auditory or visual messages, presented to the subconscious mind, but hardly or non-perceptible to the ears or eyes, and to the conscious mind.

They are used to to relay auditory messages or visual images below the perception of the conscious mind, aimed at affecting the mind, changing its habits, and implanting new ones.

The psychologistworld.com offers the following definition:

“A subliminal message is a signal or message designed to pass below (sub) the normal limits of perception. For example it might be inaudible to the conscious mind (but audible to the unconscious or deeper mind) or might be an image transmitted briefly and unperceived consciously and yet perceived unconsciously.

This definition assumes a division between conscious and unconscious which may be misleading; it may be more true to suggest that the subliminal message (sound or image) is perceived by deeper parts of what is a single integrated mind.”

Nowadays, there are many products using such messages, claiming to help you sleep better, focus your mind, get motivated, gain love, lose weight or achieve success. The idea is that by listening to these messages or watching them you can gain new skills or improve your life.

Why Are There So Many Such Products and Why People Are Attracted to Them?

The main reason is that using these products does not require any effort from the user. They seem an easy, quick and effortless way to gain new habits, lose weight, acquire new abilities, and attract to you love or money.

People like methods that promise immediate gain and no effort. It’s like letting an external power do the work for you. That’s not enough! Anything worthwhile in life requires inner and external work, and the development of various skills.

It is much better and wiser to be in control of this process, than letting some outside, subliminal influences take control.

Subliminal Messages Work in a Way Similar to Hypnosis.

You are not in control of the messages and of your mind. You let external forces affect your mind and attitude. I prefer ways that enhance conscious control.

Planting thoughts in your mind, and letting them grow, such as affirmations, can help you in many ways, and that’s great.

Subliminal messages might help you too. However, if you want to develop real inner strength, enhance and widen your awareness, and gain real and lasting inner power, you need to be in control of your subconscious mind, and not vice versa.

It’s okay to use the subconscious mind to improve your life, but I believe that you gain more in the long run, when you are in control of this process, and not controlled by it.

If you wish to try subliminal messages go ahead and try them. That’s the only way you can know if they work for you or not.

As for me, I prefer to use different methods, where I am in control of the process, and at the same time enhance the awareness and inner powers, and develop various skills consciously. This process might take more time, but you also gain permanent results and power. This is my approach in my articles and in my books.

What do you do, if you want to look good and have a well-shaped body?

Can this change happen overnight or within a few days, without effort on your part? No, you need to exercise almost daily and change your eating habits. This is true for every goal.

You can also enhance this process by repeating affirmations and using visualization, but it is a gradual process that needs time.

It’s the same with changing habits, finding a job, making money or finding love. You need to combine inner and external efforts. The inner effort means improving your focus, willpower, self-discipline, motivation, and other related skills.

The methods I recommend require spending time and effort, but I have also full proof of the results. My books might not appeal to everyone, but people who want real and lasting results will find them most useful.
