New books and new articles about the law of attraction are published almost every day. They grow like mushrooms, because everyone wants to take part in this “new fashion”.  This puts the readers in a difficult position, not knowing which book to read and which book or article to believe. Not all books are equal and not every book is really useful.

To write a manual or guide on any subject, one should have practical experience with the subject. It is not enough to read a few books and then to consider oneself as an expert. One, who writes a book on medicine or on engineering, has to be qualified to write on this subject. He or she have studied and gained experience, but it is different in the field of “the law of attraction”, where anyone can write a book and try to sell it.

According to the advertisements, many writers on the subject promise miracles in a short time, and with almost no effort on the part of the reader. Does the law of attraction really work in such a way? Can you really achieve great success, just visualizing a few minutes a day?

Can you say that successful people have achieved their success by just thinking a few minutes a day on what they wanted, and did nothing else? No, they didn’t just visualize 2-3 minutes a day and waited for miracles to happen. They put a lot of time and effort into achieving their success.

If you follow the rules of creative visualization, you can achieve a lot, but you will have to focus your mind on your goal, it must be very important for you, and you should be willing to do whatever is necessary, besides visualization.

Though many authors promise great success and wealth by following their techniques, not everyone becomes a millionaire, and not everyone wants to be a millionaire. Most people want just a comfortable, happy and healthy life, not unusual success, and that’s okay.

How many really and truly desire to be a tycoon, great businessmen, a president or a prime minister? Most people desire a better home, a better car and some money in the bank. Just a little knowledge about the law of attraction and about creative visualization is not going to change their preferences, desires and goals.

Few people really want all the responsibility, work and effort required to live the life of a tycoon or a businessman.

Money and possessions are important, but so also are happiness, health, inner peace and spiritual awareness.

Do you really wish to achieve success?

If you do, and if you are reading this article you probably do, then what are doing about it? Are you just reading books?

Often, people read a book on creative visualization, or what is now called the law of attraction, and get inspired by it. They realize that they can really improve their life, and for a while live with feelings of euphoria. Often, these feeling are short lived, and unless they read another book, the inspiration and euphoria fade away.

Some people read a book, and another book and then another one. They finish reading one book, and then promise themselves that they will start implementing what they read after they finish reading another book, but when they finish reading the next book, they search for another one and then for another one.

They simply become addicted to reading the books. They thrive on the high feelings the books give them.

Books offer information and point the way, but the work has to be done by you. Successful people did not become successful just by wishing they could succeed. They worked both on the mental and the physical planes.

Often, people do not take action and use what they learn. They do not wish to make any effort, are too lazy or are afraid of obstacles, failure or what people might say about them. They live in their imaginary world, and only dream of success. They read books on success, visualization or self-improvement, but this is the only thing they do about achieving success, which is not enough.

Success requires acting and doing!

Are you willing to step into what is called “the real world” and work and act and interact with people? Are you really willing to do whatever it takes to improve your life? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to achieve success?

Watkins BooksThere is a bookstore in London, which I always enjoy visiting. It is called Watkins Books, and is situated near Leicester Square, at 19 Cecil Court, Charing Cross Road. Every time I travel to London I go to Watkins books, and spend some time there, browsing, reading and of course buying some books, from the very large collection of books they have. Watkins Books specialize in books about esoteric subjects,  spiritual growth, meditation, Indian philosophies and spiritual masters, mysticism, astrology and other methods of divination, magic and the occult and self improvement. It is probably the oldest bookstore on these subjects, having been founded more than 100 years ago.

Watkins Books – An interesting personal experience:

On one of my visits to Watkins Books, about twenty years ago, I discovered a book, which I liked very much. The words in the book spoke directly to my inner consciousness, and brought me a great sense of inner peace and inner happiness.

The book had a hard cover and contained many pages. I wanted to buy it, but as it was a bit too expensive, and I had already bought several books and made some shopping, I did not want to have overweight luggage when returning back home. Yet, as the book was very intriguing, I said myself that I will come back to the bookshop at the end of my stay in London, and maybe I will buy it then.

On the last day of my visit I happened to be quite near Watkins Books, but as I was with friends, and the flight back was due in just a few hours later, I decided not to go to the bookstore.

Mouni Sadhu was an occultist, a spiritual teacher and author, who lived in the 20th century. He was born in 1897, some sources stating Poland as his place of birth, while others say he was born in Russia.

Mouni Sadhu studied and practiced occultism and magic for years, but after reading Paul Brunton’s book, “A search in Secret India”, his focus in life changed. He was fascinated by Paul Brunton’s account about his meeting and conversation with the Indian sage Sri Ramana Maharshi, and from then on, he developed a strong interest in the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi, aiming to self-realization.

Mouni Sadhu discovered Sri Ramana maharshi’s teaching at the time he was living in Paris, but after some time, in 1946 he moved to Brazil, finally settling in Australia in 1948.

In 1949 Mouni Sadhu visited Sri Ramana Maharshi at his ashram in Tiruvannamalai, where his spiritual quest reached its heights. He later narrated his experiences at the ashram in his book “In Days of Peace”.
