5 Tips to Grow Your Confidence

Grow Your Confidence

“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” – Vincent Van Gogh

I’ve just finished an NLP Course, and wow, what a journey it has been! The things I’ve learned about the mind have completely blown me away and changed forever the way that I’ll look out into the world.

From the way I perceive things and interpret them to actually ‘listening’ to people on a completely new level, all of it just makes you appreciate so much more how truly remarkable the human mind really is.

The amazing thing about the human mind is that it is very much like a computer. Just as a computer can be programmed to fulfill specific outcomes, the same can be done for your mind.

By programming your mind to change the way it interprets things and changes its standards and values, all towards success, you can literally change the output of your everyday actions in life, creating a future of success, confidence, and fulfillment.

Confidence is a big factor in this. Without confidence, it can be very difficult to become successful because you will automatically doubt yourself and the possible potential to reap life’s rewards.

Fortunately, you can program yourself by changing a few actions and beliefs to create confidence. Let’s look at the following 5 tips to do this below:

Tips to Grow Your Confidence

1 – It’s a State of Mind

Self-confidence is a state of mind that can be developed through daily doings or rituals. You can do this by allocating time every day, preferably 30 minutes to an hour, by reading or listening to audiobooks, meditating, and exercising.

If you’re not making time for yourself, someone else will use you to make time for them. Everyone can find an hour in their day; you just need to make a small sacrifice to achieve it. Invest in yourself – it will be your most significant investment.

2 – You Become What You Think

Now, I’m not talking about affirmations here. Sitting there thinking, “I’m gonna be rich,” is not going to make you rich. This is about those negative thoughts.

Remember, your mind is like a computer, and what you think is purely the way you interpret things. Not everything is good or bad – sometimes things just are what they are, and you personally interpret them to be either good or bad, either positive or negative.

The question is, what kind of mindset do you have?

If you have a negative mindset, you will generally look at the negative or harmful in situations. The outcome is that you won’t see positive opportunities; you’ll constantly have negative and angry/ sad/ upset emotions, and you won’t be someone others would want to surround themselves with.

Basically, you’ll create your own world around you of negativity, and this will directly destroy your personal confidence and personal potential.

Now that you’re aware of this, keep in mind what thoughts are going through your mind when you’re dealing with life on a daily basis. Are you your own worst enemy? The way you interpret and perceive things correlates with your own destiny.

Looking at the positives in situations and diagnosing everyday moments as they are will bring you more in line with reality and help build your self-confidence.

3 – Grow a Little, Everyday

The key here is the word every day. Read something new every day, either in your field of work/ business or something productive. Go on courses and meet new people with the same mindset and passions that you possess.

Living a life of daily growth will make you much more confident, wiser, and humble when dealing with life around you.

Reading an hour a day would be 7 hours a week of reading and learning. That’s 28 hours a month – 336 hours a year! Can you imagine what you can learn in that time? A new language; a specialist in your desired field? The potential is amazing.

“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.”
– Arthur Ashe

4 – Improve All Areas of Your Life

Life isn’t just about work; remembering this through your daily actions is important.

There are many other important factors, such as your health, relationships, finances, and personal growth. All these areas need time and effort if you want to be truly successful and build self-confidence.

If one of these areas is lacking, then your self-confidence will also start to dwindle.

Grow a little in each of these areas daily. How can you improve your finances? Perhaps you can learn about investing? What can you do to have a more fulfilling relationship with your partner?

Everyday learning is the key to overall success and growth in self-confidence. Lacking in one of these mentioned areas will affect your personal confidence.

5 – Dress for Success

When you look good, you’ll feel good, and this will reflect in your personal confidence.

Dress the way you want to be treated. As I mentioned earlier, people base things on their personal perceptions and interpretations.

If you don’t take pride in your personal dress, why would you expect others to see you in a different way? Dress for what you want to become and who you want to be, and your confidence will grow.
