Helen Keller lost her sight and hearing after an illness at the age of nineteen months. At the age of seven, she met Anne Sullivan, who taught her language, including reading and writing.

Keller attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first deaf blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.
