What are mental images?
A mental image is picture, scene or event that you visualize in your mind.
You construct mental images in your mind all the time, albeit unconsciously. The mental images that you often visualize affect your life, whether you are aware of this or not. I am not talking mental images that you visualize once or twice, but about the those that you often repeat in your mind.
Mental images are thoughts in pictures, just like a daydream. However, when you use them correctly you can make positive changes in your life.
Your mental images can change your life
The subconscious mind accepts the images you create in your mind as reality, and and if you keep visualizing them, you will gradually begin to believe what you imagining.
As you continue visualizing, day after day, soon, you will begin acting and behaving in accordance with your mental images, and work toward making them a reality in your life. This is the secret of the law of attraction and of creative visualization.

If you visualize negative situations, difficulties and problems, and continue doing so, your state of mind will gradually become negative, you will alienate people, close your eyes to opportunities, and your self-esteem will go down.

Mental images can be like still pictures you see in your imagination, or like a movie or a daydream.
If you play them in your mind over and again, your subconscious mind will ultimately accept them as reality, and they would affect your thinking, behavior and actions, and consequently, make changes in your world.

The power of mental images can change your life if you use it consciously. You need to choose the mental images you want, and reject those that you do not want.
You can decide what mental scenes and pictures to see in your mind, and which ones to ignore. You can decide what to let seep into your subconscious mind and what to reject. However, this requires perseverance and discipline.
This can become much easier, when you develop the ability to focus your mind and control your mind and thoughts.
1. Always be aware of your thoughts. When you catch yourself visualizing negative events, problems or difficulties, or when you tell yourself that you are helpless and weak, stop that and change the mental movie and the words you repeat in your mind.
It is like ejecting a DVD from your DVD player and inserting a better and more interesting one.
2. Visualize what you really and truly desire, and what will make you happy and satisfied. Your mind will probably interfere with fears, worries and disbelief. Your job is to educate your mind and change its habits, teaching it to think only of positive outcomes, success and happiness.
3. Being aware of your thoughts, replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts, and visualizing positive mental images over and again, will eventually change the habits of your mind and your thinking. This will lead to understanding the power of mental images and using it effectively.
